Biography

BSNE (1994) - NERHPEric Smith also received MS and PhD degrees from the University of Michigan. He is a Senior Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) working in radiation detection applications for homeland and national security. Smith is the principal investigator on projects to develop trace radionuclide analysis methods and instruments, zero-power gamma-ray spectrometers, irradiated fuel assay systems, instrumented container sensors, and alternative neutron detection techniques for portal monitors. He has also performed simulation and experimental work in support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s radioactive material interdiction program. Prior to joining PNNL, he was a staff member at Argonne National Laboratory.
